This blog is about the test of Cuba, living in Cuba, traveling to Cuba, updated information about the best way to get around, what to visit, hot spots and our Cuban culture.
We hope that with each post we can create a rainbow, interesting and fun road map to our country from an inward look.
Some weeks ago I was assisting some guests to trace the best possible schedule for their visits to the countryside and making some reservations in well recommended private houses. Certainly, the question arises, Ana why you don't write about all this to share beforehand with all the travelers that are coming this way our that want to visit Cuba.
Then here I 'am exploring the great road of the words to start to share my experience as a Cuban.
After 27 years of having started La Casa de Ana we have received thousands of guests from all over the world and grow with them , getting enriched both ways , on one hand by the need to research to give to each one the best advice and updated information about travel to Cuba and traveling in Cuba and on the other hand by learning about their experience and receiving our guests valuable feedback on relation to their staying in Havana and traveling across Cuba .
On view worlds we share, moments, experiences and knowledge.
We welcome you to Cuba, to La Casa de Ana your Casa in Havana and to our blog.
Our country Cuba, know by the great cigars (Cohiba, Monte Cristo,), old cars from the 40's, 50 and so forth, its Run and I's music. But as a Cuban, I proudly can say that what makes our country special is its people. Maybe because we live on an Island we have been always curious about the travelers visiting our country perhaps one of the reasons that make us open. It is a tradition for us to receive our guests with the cordial: quiere un cafecito ( do you like to have a coffee ?). As we love to look people straight to their eyes, the mirror of the soul. Warmth and generosity define our culture
Following this tradition, we decided to make every day at 10 am a place of chat at La Casa de Ana on which we welcome not only the gests that are staging at ours but all the guests that are allocated through us on neighboring houses. So we can talk answers your questions and assist you further on your trip.
Havana, the city of the columns, as defined once by Alejo Carpentier, a great Cuban writer, it is a cutting age vibrant city that receives a great number of visitors all year round, and that constantly move and expand , interesting places and small businesses grows by the day and I know it is more to come. New generations are on the move looking forward to building a future.
If was a day not far ago on which our beautiful Ould Havana was the main place to be, today you need to walk further to really have a test of what Havana is all about.
Lest take few examples that are at our doorsteps. Near to La Casa de Ana we have La Fabrica De Arte Cubano an art gallery and club, established inside of a former cooking oil factory, and has gained swiftly notoriety as one of Havana's premier nightclubs described by Several news outlets have as a symbol of Cuba's accelerating opening to the world and a symbol it is because every day it hosts the most Avangard young generations of emerging artists in all fields together to those established and internationally recognized. The Cuban rhythms are not foreign to La Fabrica de Arte.
We have as well nearby great clubs with unbelievable music and superb atmosphere, like El Gato o the number one Jazz Club in Havana La Zorra y el Cuervo ('Fox & Crow')
Restaurants are as well flourishing, developing a tasty kitchen that you will like to eat, from the most traditional recipes to a very creative rainbow of flavors, few streets from us are for example the famous cutting-age El Cocinero and further on, El Decameron, one of my favors or Vida Sana which is strictly vegetarian.
In any case, not all can be mentioned in one short note, but for sure in this blog we will walk together the streets of Havana, travel to Viñales, Varadero, and Santiago. Seeing my Cuba, our Cuba with its contrasts, crazy, surprising, full of madness, nervous braking sometimes but always so desperately charming!
