Why I love Cuba and you will love it too! From the other side of the bay

Regla Township is located on the other side of the Havana bay. In the municipality of Regla there are two towns: Regla and Casablanca. Both of these cities are linked by land and sea. Their history dates back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Iglesia "Nuestra Se帽ora de Regla"
The Regla town is a peninsula at the entrance of Havana Bay. Due to it´s proximity to the port of Havana, Regla has remarkable economic activity. The town was founded in 1687.
A part of this lands was donated to a Peruvian pilgrim for the construction of a place of worship, for  La Virgen de Regla. Soon thereafter the name of “Regla” was born.
Before "Regla town" was founded, the jurisdiction was known as Casablanca. Here a depot was built to store objects, as the warehouses in Havana were not large enough. The warehouse was always painted in white. Because of this, those who traveled to this part of the bay, asked the boatman to take them to Casablanca. Thus it was baptized with that name.
Statue of Cristo de La Habana in 1958
On the top of the hill of Casablanca the statue of Cristo de La Habana looks over us. The monument is constructed of carrara marble, wish was made by the Cuban artist Jilma Madera. It was inaugurated in December 1958, and is located 50 meters above sea level, and measures 17 meters tall, on a 3 meter base. From here you can enjoy one of the best views in all of Havana.
To reach these two regions you can take a ferry boat that departs from Muelle de la Luz on Avenida del Puerto, or a short drive by car through the Havana tunnel.

Desde aqu铆 se contemplan de las mejores vistas de La Habana 馃寙 馃寖.

Entrada principal
Located on Avenida Paseo in El Vedado there is a house that keeps a love story between Juan Pedro Bar贸 and Catalina Lasa. He was one of the main sugar planters of Cuba and she held a high social rank.
Catalina was married with Luis Est猫vez Romero and they attended to a party  馃帀 where she met Juan Pedro, a strong passion 馃挆 arose among them which caused gossip in the high society to which they belonged.

Due this incident the couple left Cuba to find shelter in Paris 馃椉 where they got married 馃拸 under French laws, after that they went to the Vatican and met with the Pope Benedict XV to be given the Divine blessing for their relationship. In 1918 was signed the Divorce law in Cuba and was officially registered the separation of Catalina Lasa and her first husband.

They returned 馃懓馃懕 to Cuba and a few years later Bar貌 began anonymously the construction of the mansion 馃彙 for his beloved on Paseo Street, with Italian Renaissance style for the exteriors and interior decoration´s  Art D茅co.

He planted in the gardens roses 馃尮 of unique beauty called Catalina Lasa, a grafting rose obtained by the famous floriculturists of the time. According to the story, in 1926 this wonderful mansion was occupied by Catalina Lasa, who died 4 years later.

Nowadays this architectural jewel is La Casa de la Amistad where you can enjoy a pleasant restaurant and also there is in the gardens a nightclub during the weekends.

Vest铆bulo
Jard铆n
