😍 Cuba National Flower 😍

Butterfly flower bouquet

Butterfly flower was declared as Cuba National Flower in 1936 by Agriculture Secretary from a selection process with the participation of prestigious botanists of the time.

The story tells that during the independence war patriotic women chose this flower to adorn their hair where they kept important clandestine messages.

This flower is native from the India eastern Himalayas region however in our country is common to find it everywhere mainly in humid places, it gives us beautiful white flowers, salmon or yellow being the white ones the most representative for Cubans, meaning of our love for peace and the shape of its linked flowers to a spike represents respect and strength.

Hedychium coronarium is its generic name, it is said that the rhizome of the butterfly flower may have properties to treat diabetes as well as for other uses in medicine.

For its pleasant fragrance and beauty it is chosen to decorate Cuban homes.

 😍 La Flor Nacional de Cuba 😍

Flor Mariposa

La Mariposa  fue declarada nuestra flor nacional en 1936 por la Secretaria de Agricultura a partir de un proceso de selección con la participación de prestigiosos botánicos de la época.

Cuenta la historia que durante la guerra de independencia la mujeres patriotas  eligieron esta flor para adornar sus cabellos donde guardaban mensajes clandestinos importantes.

Es originaria de la región de los Himalayas orientales de la India sin embargo en nuestro país es común encontrarla en todas partes principalmente en lugares húmedos, nos regala hermosas flores blancas, salmón o amarillas siendo las de color blanco la más representativa para los cubanos significado de nuestro amor por la paz y la forma de sus enlazadas flores a una espiga representa respeto y fuerza.

Hedychium coronarium es su nombre genérico, se dice que el rizoma de la flor de la mariposa puede tener propiedades para tratar la diabetes asi como para otros usos en la medicina.

Por su agradable fragancia y belleza es escogida para adornar los hogares cubanos.

💙 Plaza de Armas 💙

Plaza de Armas

It is the oldest square in Havana founded in 1519 and next to El Templete, the city's proclamation memorial. The administrative center was located in this area at colony time. It owes its name because of the military exercises that took place there since Castillo de la Real Fuerza construction.

At the present time it is an open area with a water fountain in each extreme and in the center there is a Carlos Manuel de Céspedes white marble sculpture. Because of his actions during the Independence War, he is known as "Father of the Motherland"

 💚 Plaza Vieja 💚

It was created in 1559 as Plaza Nueva for a commercial activity´s space mainly. After Plaza el Cristo´s construction its name was changed to Plaza Vieja. This square also held religious festivals and commemorations. It is the only one of the four old squares that is not attached to any church.

In its surround there are several commercial, cultural and gastronomic institutions located in old residences that have been restored today.

 💛 Plaza San Francisco de Asís 💛

It was inaugurated next to San Francisco de Asís Convent in 1628 from which it took its name. Located very close to Havana´s bay and docks it was for many years an important commercial activity area.

Varied cultural shows take place there nowadays.

💜 Plaza de La Catedral 💜

In it surrounded there are several buildings that are examples of the city´s baroque style such as La Catedral de La Habana, El Liceo Artístico y Literario and el Museo de Arte Colonial.

This square receives its name when it was built La Catedral de La Habana and among of the four foundational squares is the one that keeps its colonial appearance better preserved

☆☆☆ Las Cuatro Plazas patrimoniales de la Habana ☆☆☆

💙 Plaza de Armas 💙

Próxima a El Templete, memorial de proclamación de la ciudad, La Plaza de Armas es la más antigua de La Habana y allí se encontraba el centro administrativo en la época de la colonia, fue fundada en 1519. Debe su nombre a los ejercicios militares que aquí se realizaban a partir de la construcción del Castillo de la Real Fuerza.

En la actualidad es un área abierta con una fuente de agua en cada unos de sus extremos y en el centro una escultura de mármol blanco del Padre de la Patria, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. 

💚 Plaza Vieja 💚

Se creó en 1559 como espacio para el comercio principalmente bajo el nombre de Plaza Nueva. Despuès de la construcción de la Plaza el Cristo cambio su nombre a Plaza Vieja. En ella también se celebraban fiestas religiosas y conmemoraciones. Es la única de las cuatro plazas antiguas que no está anexa a ninguna iglesia.

Está rodeada de varias instituciones comerciales, culturales y gastronómicas ubicadas en antiguas residencias que han sido restauradas en la actualidad.

💛 Plaza de San Francisco de Asís💛

Se inauguró en 1628 al lado del Convento de San Francisco de Asís del cual recibió el nombre. Muy próxima a la bahía y los muelles de La Habana fue durante muchos años un sitio importante para la actividad comercial de la época.

Hoy día se realizan espectáculos culturales variados 

 

💜 Plaza de la Catedral 💜

Es un conjunto arquitectónico donde confluye La Catedral de La Habana, el Museo de Arte colonial y el Liceo artístico y literario, conformados todos por su estilo barroco cubano orgullo de la ciudad.

Esta plaza recibe su nombre cuando fue construida la iglesia de la Catedral y es la que mantiene su apariencia colonial mejor conservada
